The Super Eagles have secured a place in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after a dominant 4–0 victory over Mozambique in their Round of 16 encounter in Fès.
Nigeria picked up where they left off in the group stage, showing confidence and control from the opening minutes. Having won all three group matches to finish top of Group C, the Eagles overwhelmed Mozambique, who were making their first-ever Round of 16 appearance after qualifying as one of the best third-placed teams.
The breakthrough came in the 20th minute when Ademola Lookman finished calmly after being set up by Akor Adams. Victor Osimhen doubled the lead just five minutes later, before the Napoli striker struck again early in the second half, converting another assist from Lookman in the 47th minute to make it 3–0.
Nigeria completed the rout in the 75th minute when Akor Adams got on the scoresheet to cap an impressive team performance.
Wilfred Ndidi led the side from midfield, partnering Frank Onyeka and Alex Iwobi, while Stanley Nwabali returned between the posts. The defensive line of Bright Osayi-Samuel, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey and Bruno Onyemaechi remained solid throughout, limiting Mozambique to very few chances.

By the 80th minute, the Super Eagles had recorded eight shots on target, with Mozambique failing to seriously test Nwabali.
The emphatic win keeps Nigeria firmly on course for a fourth AFCON title. The Super Eagles will now face the winners of the quarter-final tie between Algeria and DR Congo.
