Hapless 12 year old Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, shot our national Consciousness, when he reportedly was bullied to death on November 30, 2021. Authorities of the school, Dowen college, Lekki, said the late Sylvester was given a preliminary treatment, but duly informed the parents to take home home for further medical attention.

The late boy fingered five senior students of the school as the arrow heads of those who bullied him. The suspects, children of the high and mighty were detained at the juvenile facility, but were later released two independent autopsies were done, the one boy the Delta state police and the other by the Lagos state police command.

The first autopsy revealed that the boy died of chemical intoxication. We should mention though, that the dead boy mentioned the ceaseless case of bullying to his parents, but they took no head. The curious twist in the tale came on Friday, January 7, 2022 when Lagos state police Hakeem Odumosu addressed the Press in which he not only announced the release of the detained 5 ‘big boy’ students and five employees of the Dowen College Lekki, he disclosed that Sylvester died a natural death.

Meanwhile the Lagos state Chief Coroner, Justice Monisola Dada has fixed January 15, for the commencement of an inquest into the cause of Sylvester’s death. With this development, how does one rationalize the intervention of the Lagos police Chief. Obviously, this story appears not to want to go away.
