The outgoing Taraba State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed Governor Agbu Kefas for a second term in the 2027 governorship election.
The committee also threw its weight behind President Bola Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential poll.
Speaking to journalists in Jalingo on Monday, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim El-Sudi, said the endorsements were based on what he described as the strong leadership qualities demonstrated by both leaders.
According to him, since Kefas joined the APC, the party has worked closely with the governor to stabilise and strengthen its structure in the state.
“The governor not only embraced the leadership of the party, but also ensured that our transition into the ruling party was smooth, peaceful and devoid of rancour — unlike what happened in some other states,” El-Sudi said, describing Kefas’ approach as mature and statesmanlike.
He added that the atmosphere of unity within the party enabled it to conduct congresses successfully across all 168 wards and 16 local government areas with minimal challenges.

The chairman also recalled a major rally organised to formally welcome Kefas into the APC, which was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the party’s national chairman, members of the National Working Committee and more than 10 serving governors.
El-Sudi further revealed that Taraba emerged as one of the top-performing states during the APC’s electronic membership registration and revalidation exercise, crediting the achievement to the governor’s support.
He noted that membership registration in the state continues to grow steadily and praised Kefas for ensuring that party congresses were conducted in a free and fair manner.
According to him, the governor’s inclusive approach has strengthened unity and internal democracy within the party as preparations begin for the 2027 elections.
