Three Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Three unidentified passengers were confirmed dead following a multi-vehicle crash on the Kara section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway late Thursday. The accident occurred around 7 pm when a truck transporting sugar lost control and collided with another vehicle, causing a chain reaction that involved several other vehicles.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing several injured passengers being rushed to the hospital, while the truck driver fled the scene before authorities could apprehend him. The crash involved an SF3000 truck, a Toyota Camry, an Isuzu mini truck, and a Honda Accord.

Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that three passengers, including two women and one man, died at the scene. The injured were taken to an emergency clinic in Ojota, Lagos, while the deceased were transported to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for identification and autopsy.

Lagos State Fire Service was on the scene to manage the situation, with spokesperson Amodu Shakiru stating that the incident, though in Ogun State, required their immediate response to control the aftermath. Authorities are actively searching for the fleeing truck driver.
