President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to defeating terrorism and banditry, assuring Nigerians that security forces are working tirelessly to restore peace and stability across the country.
The President gave the assurance on Wednesday night at the Presidential Villa in Abuja while receiving leaders of the Ogbia community in Bayelsa State. He acknowledged the scale of the country’s security challenges but stressed that the government is making steady progress through sustained military operations, arrests, and the disruption of criminal networks.
According to Tinubu, while acts of terrorism and banditry often attract loud public attention, security agencies have continued to record successes behind the scenes. He said the armed forces are intensifying efforts to neutralise violent groups and expressed confidence that peace will ultimately prevail.
Beyond security, the President assured the Ogbia delegation that his administration remains committed to the development of the Niger Delta. He admitted that the oil-producing region suffered neglect in the past but said his government is determined to change that narrative through consistent engagement and targeted development projects.
Tinubu praised the Niger Delta Development Commission, particularly its Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, noting that interventions such as solar-powered street lighting have already improved community life and boosted local economic activities.

He also promised to address key concerns raised by the delegation, including erosion control and critical infrastructure projects like bridge construction, which he described as vital for economic growth and regional development. The President added that cooperation with the National Assembly would be essential in speeding up project delivery and sustaining economic recovery.
On the economy, Tinubu said Nigeria has moved out of a difficult period, insisting that the focus now is to ensure that the benefits of recent improvements reach ordinary citizens, especially those at the grassroots.
In response, leaders of the Ogbia community pledged their political support for the President ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking for the group, Robert Enogha thanked Tinubu for appointing their son, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, as Managing Director of the NDDC, which he said has brought visible improvements to the Niger Delta. The delegation also invited the President to visit the community for a major cultural event, reaffirming their unity and support for his leadership.
