President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to infrastructure development and urban renewal, describing it as a cornerstone of his vision for a more prosperous and connected Nigeria. He made this declaration while inaugurating Roads B6, B12, and Circle Road in the Central Area District of Abuja.

Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu highlighted the significance of these projects in reducing traffic congestion and travel time, thereby ensuring seamless connectivity within the capital. The roads connect key areas including the three-arms zone, cultural and diplomatic areas, ministries, state liaison offices, and corporate and commercial offices.

"Our Renewed Hope Agenda prioritizes infrastructure as a driving force for economic advancement," Tinubu stated. "With a commitment to building more roads, bridges, and essential infrastructure, we aim to connect people and drive the economy."

Reflecting on the progress made since he assumed office, Tinubu remarked, "We recognize that an efficient transport network is vital for economic growth, social integration, and national development. By commissioning these strategic roads, we are enhancing economic activities, improving accessibility, and ensuring a higher quality of life for our citizens."

He commended the efforts of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, his team, and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) for their dedication and adherence to high standards of quality in completing the project.

Wike provided background on the project, noting its long history and significant cost adjustments. "This road was first awarded in 2007 at a cost of N48.5 billion. After multiple revisions, the cost rose to N98.8 billion by 2021. However, under President Tinubu's administration, we have turned this 17-year-old dream into a reality within just one year," he said, praising the President's effective leadership.

Wike also emphasized the administration's focus on completing ongoing projects before initiating new ones. "Our 2024 budget reflects this commitment, with 58 percent dedicated to completing old projects and 42 percent for new initiatives," he added.

FCT Minister of State Dr. Mariya Mahmoud praised President Tinubu's leadership, citing the naming of Arterial Road N20 after Wole Soyinka Way as a testament to his commitment to excellence. "Your support has been instrumental in our success, inspiring us to push boundaries and make a real difference in the lives of FCT residents," she said.

Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engineer Shehu Hadi, highlighted the significance of the newly inaugurated roads. "Roads B6, B12, and Circle Road form a vital network that connects some of Abuja's most important zones, providing a principal route from the Airport Expressway to the Central Area. Designed for efficiency and safety, these roads feature two main carriageways with two lanes, two bus lanes, and 41 bridges and retaining walls at various intersections," he explained.

The new roads are expected to enhance the connectivity of the Presidential route, linking the Three Arms Zone and the Presidential Villa, while minimizing congestion and ensuring smooth travel for all road users.
