Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Economic Stabilization, Security in 2025 Budget

President Bola Tinubu has reinforced his administration’s determination to restore federal authority and stabilize Nigeria’s economy amid rising challenges. Tanimu Yakubu, Director General of the Budget Office, highlighted this during a training session for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) on the 2025 budget preparation, emphasizing the use of the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS).

Yakubu stressed Tinubu’s focus on mobilizing resources to expand the economy, targeting human capital development, economic reforms, and improved infrastructure. He noted the considerable fiscal pressures on the administration, citing insecurity, limited resources, and global economic volatility as major hurdles impacting economic recovery.

The 2025 budget is expected to prioritize national security, economic stability, and efficient resource allocation to reduce business costs and attract investments. Yakubu urged MDAs to align their budget proposals with national priorities, ensuring that the budget reflects the government's vision for a secure and prosperous Nigeria.

The GIFMIS-BPS training aims to equip MDAs with the tools to streamline the budget process and enhance accountability. Yakubu emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to improve Nigeria’s economic foundations and urged active collaboration among MDAs to ensure a robust and focused budget for 2025.
