President Bola Tinubu has approved a major shake-up in the leadership of Nigeria’s Armed Forces, appointing new Service Chiefs as part of efforts to strengthen the nation’s security architecture.
The announcement was made on Friday in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, titled “Tinubu Changes Service Chiefs.”
According to the statement, General Olufemi Oluyede has been appointed as the new Chief of Defence Staff, taking over from General Christopher Musa.
Other key appointments include Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff. Meanwhile, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

President Tinubu expressed his appreciation to the outgoing Service Chiefs for their service and leadership, commending them for their “patriotic dedication to the nation.”
He also urged the newly appointed officers to justify the confidence placed in them by demonstrating renewed commitment, professionalism, and teamwork in defending the country.
All appointments take immediate effect.
