President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested the House of Representatives to extend the deadline for implementing the capital component of the 2023 appropriation bill from March 31, 2024, to June 30, 2024. The request, conveyed in a letter read on the House floor by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, also seeks an extension for the implementation of the supplementary appropriation act from March 31, 2024, to June 30, 2024.
The President's request for an extension is aimed at ensuring the full implementation of the provisions outlined in both acts. By extending the deadlines, the government aims to effectively execute the capital projects and other initiatives outlined in the appropriation bill and supplementary act.
The House of Representatives will consider the President's request and make a decision regarding the extension of the implementation period for both acts.
