President Bola Tinubu has pledged to tackle Nigeria's surging inflation and address the country's economic issues during his administration. Speaking at the APC Presidential Campaign Council's 2024 Ramadan Iftar at the State House, Tinubu emphasized his commitment to ending inflation, despite acknowledging that there is no quick fix.

Since Tinubu's removal of fuel subsidy and unification of the exchange rate upon taking office in May 2023, Nigeria has witnessed a steady rise in inflation, leading to increased economic hardship. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), inflation soared to 31.70 percent in February 2024, up from 29.90 percent the previous month.

President Tinubu assured the nation that his government is diligently working to reverse this trend. He emphasized the need for hard work and perseverance, stating, "I campaigned on hope, and I must deliver on that hope for the benefit of all Nigerians." Tinubu expressed confidence in the country's economy, reassuring citizens that efforts are underway to address inflation and enhance revenue generation.

He further highlighted the government's commitment to self-reliance and sovereignty, stating, "We are taking back our respect around the world by relying on our own efforts, resources, and ingenuity." Tinubu emphasized the importance of Nigerians' contributions, dedication, and hard work in achieving economic prosperity and overcoming challenges.
