Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has clarified her relationship with fellow music heavyweight Davido, stressing that she holds no grudges despite recent tensions between them.
Speaking in an interview on The Breakfast Club, Savage said her bond with Davido remained one of love and mutual respect, dismissing speculations of deep animosity.
“I haven’t spoken to you, David, but I do want you to know that I do love you and I would never betray you or like take sides,” she said.
The singer, however, confirmed that she had filed a police report against Davido, explaining that it was a precautionary step rather than an act of hostility.
According to her, the dispute stemmed from a miscommunication which escalated when Davido allegedly made threats out of anger.
“Do I think he was really going to go ahead with it? No. But again, I’m not taking any risks. You could be saying it around people who wanna now act out on what you’re saying,” Savage noted.
She revealed that before taking official steps, she had reached out to older members of Davido’s family in an effort to resolve the matter quietly, but did not get a response.
“Just for the record, before I do anything can we solve this? None of them came back to me,” she added.
Despite the fallout, Savage reiterated that her respect for Davido remains intact, describing the entire saga as an unfortunate misunderstanding.
