The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the deaths of four people in a ghastly motor accident that occurred on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway by Mabushi Underbridge, Abuja.
Earlier reports indicated that a family of three died after being attacked by louts who forcefully boarded their vehicle to extort money.
In a statement on Thursday, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, Emeka Ehekweme, was driving with his wife when they were confronted by three unidentified suspects near Berger Junction, Utako.
The suspects allegedly forced their way into the vehicle, and in the struggle to seize control of the steering, the car veered off, struck a parked Mazda, and somersaulted into a bridge pillar.
“The Highlander’s driver, his wife, and two of the assailants were confirmed dead on arrival at the National Hospital, while a third suspect is currently receiving treatment,” Adeh said.
The Mazda driver, Suleman Mohammed, escaped with minor injuries.
