Passengers on the Abuja-Kaduna rail corridor sustained injuries on Monday morning after a train was involved in an incident that forced it to halt midway through its journey.
The train, traveling from Kaduna to Abuja, was unable to complete its scheduled trip after the disruption occurred along the busy corridor linking the Federal Capital Territory and Kaduna State.
Eyewitnesses said the incident happened suddenly, causing panic among passengers as the train came to an abrupt stop. Some reported hearing a loud bang before the train jolted violently, throwing several people off their seats and causing cuts and bruises.
According to passengers, the Abuja-bound train reportedly collided with another train along the line, prompting a temporary suspension of operations while authorities assessed the situation.
One passenger, Sada Malumfashi, described the frightening experience on social media, saying the train remained stationary for about 30 minutes before resuming its journey slowly toward Kubwa on the outskirts of Abuja. He added that there was no communication from the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) during the disruption.
