The Defence Headquarters has announced that troops have made significant strides in combating terrorism and criminal activities across Nigeria. In the past week, operations led to the neutralization of 106 terrorists and the arrest of 103 individuals involved in various illegal activities.
According to Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, troops also apprehended 22 perpetrators of oil theft and successfully rescued 96 kidnap victims. Additionally, they recovered 171 assorted weapons and 2,452 rounds of ammunition.
In the North East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai neutralized 38 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and rescued 16 kidnap hostages. Meanwhile, in the North Central, operations led to the elimination of seven violent extremists and the rescue of eight kidnap hostages.
In the North West, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji neutralized 31 terrorists, arrested 13 others, and rescued 56 kidnap hostages. Operation Delta Safe in the Niger Delta area also discovered and destroyed 40 illegal refining sites and recovered large quantities of stolen crude oil and refined products.
Overall, these operations demonstrate the commitment of Nigerian troops to maintaining peace and security across the country.
