Troops foil bandits’ incursion in Shanono, Kano after intense gun duel

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Mesa, have successfully foiled a bandits’ attack in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State after a fierce gun battle.

According to the spokesperson of the 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Captain Babatunde Zubairu, the operation began around 5 p.m. on November 1, 2025, following a tip-off about suspicious movements of bandits around the Ungwan Tudu, Ungwan Tsamiya, and Goron Dutse areas.

Zubairu said troops quickly mobilised and, working alongside other security agencies, engaged the bandits in an intense firefight that forced them to retreat.

“The bandits, who came on motorcycles, suffered heavy casualties during the exchange,” he said. “Troops deployed at Tsaure engaged them in combat, pursued the fleeing attackers, and recovered several motorcycles and two mobile phones.”
