Troops Neutralize Six Insurgents, Arrest Three Suspects in Giwa LGA Operations

Nigeria

Troops of the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch have neutralized six insurgents and arrested three suspects during special operations in Giwa Local Government Area (LGA). Samuel Aruwan, the State’s Overseeing Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

According to Aruwan, the military provided operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government, detailing the successful mission. "In response to credible intelligence of terrorist activities in the general area, troops conducted a special fighting patrol to the Galadimawa area in Giwa LGA," Aruwan stated.

The troops initially set up a position at Sabon Sara village, discovering that insurgents had abandoned a herd of rustled cattle in their hasty escape. The recovered cattle were handed over to locals, and the troops advanced to the Market Square of Galadimawa. There, a swift exchange of fire resulted in six insurgents being neutralized.

Further searches in the market area led to the arrest of three suspected collaborators and informants, believed to be providing logistical assistance to the insurgents. The troops also recovered two motorcycles and four mobile phones.

Governor Uba Sani, upon receiving the report, congratulated the troops and Major General Mayierenso Saraso, General Officer Commanding 1 Division and Commander of Operation Whirl Punch, for the breakthrough. He urged the security forces to conduct thorough investigations to dislodge more criminal networks. Special operations will continue in the general area and other locations of interest.

The Kaduna State Government appeals to locals in frontline communities to continue volunteering timely intelligence to the nearest security formations or through the 24-hour Security Operations Room at 09034000060 and 08170189999. Aruwan also warned informants aiding terrorists to desist, as they are being trailed for prosecution.
