Tuggar Resigns as Foreign Affairs Minister to Pursue Bauchi Governorship Bid

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has stepped down from his position to pursue his ambition of becoming the next governor of Bauchi State.

The development was confirmed on Monday in a brief statement by the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, who said, “The resignation of the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs is confirmed.”

Tuggar had earlier indicated interest in contesting the Bauchi governorship election. His Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Alkasim Abdulkadir, had confirmed that the minister was preparing to join the race.

“The minister is interested and aspires to run for the governorship seat of Bauchi State,” Abdulkadir said, adding that Tuggar would comply with the timetable and guidelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Tuggar, a native of Udubo in Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, had previously contested for the governorship position. His resignation is seen as a strategic move to fully focus on his political ambition ahead of the next election cycle.
