The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully prosecuted and sentenced two notorious drug kingpins, Uwaezuoke Ikenna Christian and Agbo Chidike Prince, to life imprisonment. The sentences were confirmed by NDLEA's spokesman, Femi Babafemi, who detailed the arrests and convictions of the individuals.

Uwaezuoke Ikenna Christian, a 43-year-old businessman, was first arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on March 19, 2022, for ingesting 100 wraps of cocaine weighing 2.243 kilograms. Despite being granted bail after pleading not guilty, he absconded, only to be arrested again on August 1, 2023, in Lagos while attempting to export cocaine to India under a different name. He was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for being a repeated offender.

On the other hand, Agbo Chidike Prince, a 42-year-old, was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on October 21, 2023, for ingesting 49 wraps of cocaine. Despite pleading guilty, he was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment due to the commercial quantity of the drug and the seriousness of drug-related offences.

Additionally, NDLEA officers at the Lagos airport arrested a passenger, Yahaya Danjuma Oturah, attempting to export 4,000 pills of tramadol 225mg to Italy. The agency also arrested Jennifer Iliya in Bayelsa for producing and distributing cakes laced with cannabis sativa, along with several other individuals involved in drug-related offences across the country.

NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), commended the officers for their efforts in prosecuting these cases and reiterated the agency's commitment to combating drug trafficking in Nigeria.
