On Wednesday, students at the University of Ibadan took to the streets to protest against recent tuition fee hikes and power supply rationing. Wearing masks to conceal their identities, some students blocked the main entrance and gathered around the Senate Building.
The protest followed an emergency congress held within the institution on Tuesday, where it was resolved that a peaceful demonstration would occur the next morning. A document from the Council of Faculty Presidents (COFP) stated that there would be a mass boycott of lectures and transportation services on campus.
