Super Eagles star and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, has been honoured as the Gentlemen Quarterly (GQ) Sportsman of the Year in Turkey.
The 26-year-old received the prestigious award on Wednesday at a glamorous black-tie ceremony in Istanbul. The annual event, organised by GQ Turkey, celebrates top achievers in sports, music, film, and other fields.
Osimhen has become a fan favourite since joining Galatasaray, playing a major role in the club’s domestic success. In his debut season, he delivered an extraordinary performance—scoring 37 goals and providing seven assists in 41 games—helping Galatasaray secure both the Super Lig and Turkish Cup titles.
His heroics also led the club to sign him permanently from Napoli for a Turkish record fee of €75 million.
Despite facing injury setbacks this season, Osimhen has maintained strong form, scoring 11 goals in 14 matches across all competitions.
For the Super Eagles, he remains a key figure. Although Nigeria missed out on qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Osimhen made a strong impact when he returned to the qualifiers, scoring six goals in five matches and playing a crucial role up to the playoff rounds.
He also impressed in the knockout phase, notably scoring twice against Gabon in the semi-final before an injury limited his participation in the final against DR Congo.

“I want to say a big thank you to GQ. Can’t forget my Galatasaray family. This means so much to my family and me. I appreciate everyone who has supported me up to this hour. I will continue to do my best for my family, for Galatasaray, for the fans all over the world.”
