Vinicius Junior Set to Miss Two La Liga Matches After Red Card in Valencia Win

Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior will miss Real Madrid's next two La Liga fixtures against Las Palmas and Real Valladolid following his red card in the 2-1 victory over Valencia. The 23-year-old was sent off after an altercation with Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski. Despite the suspension in the league, Vinicius will still be eligible to play in the upcoming Spanish Super Cup.

Real Madrid triumphed in the first La Liga match of 2025, with a dramatic second-half comeback after Hugo Duro gave Valencia the lead in the first half. Luka Modric equalized in the 85th minute, and Jude Bellingham sealed the win in added time. The result moved Real Madrid ahead of Atlético Madrid, leading the La Liga table by two points, although they have played one more match than their rivals.

After the match, Vinicius expressed his regret on social media, tweeting, "Sorry, and thanks, team!"
