VP Shettima Arrives in New York for 79th UN General Assembly, Leading Nigeria’s Global Diplomatic Efforts

Vice President Kashim Shettima has landed in New York to represent Nigeria at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), reaffirming the country’s dedication to global diplomacy. His participation highlights Nigeria's focus on fostering international collaboration and addressing global challenges.

Shettima was warmly received at John F. Kennedy International Airport by a top-level delegation, including Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Communications and Digital Economy Minister Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, and NITDA Director General Kashifu Inuwa.

On behalf of President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Shettima will lead Nigeria's delegation at the UNGA, where he will present the country's national statement. He is also expected to participate in critical high-level discussions aimed at strengthening Nigeria's role on the global stage.

The 79th UNGA, themed "Leaving no one behind: Acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development, and human dignity," runs from September 24 to 28, 2024. It serves as a vital platform for Nigeria to address pressing international issues and build partnerships for sustainable development.
