VP Shettima Prays for Peace and Prosperity at Eid-el-Kabir Celebration

Vice President Kashim Shettima has prayed for peace and a bumper harvest for this year's farming season, speaking to journalists at the Ramat Square Eid Ground in Maiduguri, Borno State. Joining thousands of Muslims for the Eid-el-Kabir prayers, led by Borno State Chief Imam Shettima Mamman-Saleh, Shettima emphasized the importance of social harmony and national development.

After the congregational prayers, Shettima urged Nigerians to pray for peace and prosperity. "We hope and pray that we will get a bumper harvest that will address some of the food security challenges we are facing," he stated, highlighting the crucial agricultural season. He stressed the need for unity and peaceful coexistence to overcome the nation's challenges, noting that peace and development must go hand in hand.

Among the notable attendees were Borno Acting Governor Usman Kadafur, the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn-Garbai, and Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Alhaji Abubakar Kyari. In his sermon, Chief Imam Shettima Mamman-Saleh called on Nigerians to embrace peace and pray for the progress of Borno State and the nation, urging Muslims to embody the virtues of love and sacrifice during Eid-el-Kabir.

The Chief Imam commemorated the festival by slaughtering a ram, symbolizing the spirit of sacrifice. Following the prayers, the Borno State government hosted a lunch in honor of Vice President Shettima, marking the 2024 Eid-el-Kabir celebration with a message of unity and hope for the future.
