WHAT ABOUT NAMING A BANDIT A TERRORIST

Bandit

My unbiased dictionary definies a bandit as a robber or outlaw belonging to a gang and typically operating in an isolated or lawless area on the other hand, a terrorist is a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims. If we expand the logic both the bandit and terrorist are one and the same person. Both of them are lawless, intimidate and kill civilians.

Banditry for example, includes armed robbery, murder, rape and cattle rustling. More than anything else, he undermines farming cultivation, agro-allied and industrial expansion. The terrorist on the other hand, is a hydra-headed phenomenon in Nigerias NorthWest East. The landscape down to the middle Belt has been yoking under the pangs of terrorist activities. All 36 House of Assembly Speakers have prevailed on president Muhammadu Buhari to declare bandits as terrorists and enemies of the Nigerian state.

Both Govs Masari of Katina and Nasir el-Rufai of kaduna had earlier prevailed on the commander in chief to name the bandits in his state. Meanwhile Gov Tambuwal of Sokoto state appealed to the fed authorities to restore telecom services in areas experiencing banditry in his state. It is very persistent at this point to ask if property naming bandits as terrorists would help to mitigate the problem. Simply put what ado about labeling bandits as terrorists
