The separation organization in Nigeria, the outlawed independent people of Biafra or IPOB, was founded in 2012, when its leader Nnamdi Kanu, was expelled from Raph Uwazurike. He was accused of misappropriating millions of naira belonging to MASSOB. The IPOB aims at restoring an independent state of Biafra in the old Eastern Region. Its modus is what has put it on a collision course with the Nigerian state. Interestingly enough, the activities of IPOB, however unagreeable would attract the press.

The group relishes this publicity, which makes it act with a daring, that’s difficult to define. It’s stay at home order has split opinion in the south Eastern region of the country. The reactions of leaders of thoughts in the south east are variegated whereas many chastise the IPOB, with tongue in cheek for fear of reprisal attacks, other groups attacks IPOB from the safety of far flung places. After failing in its bid to scuttle the Nov 6, Anambra Governoship elections, the IPOB has raised the bar for its noxious daring by ordering that schools throughout the South East Region Seize singing the National Anthem forthwith.

There is also the ridiculous ban on Fulani cows during festive seasons in the South East. The statement from so called Head of Directorates of state, Chika Edoziem says it would campaign for the unconditional release of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The question at this moment is beyond living dangerously and waiting to be in the news regularly, what does IPOB want?
