The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has saved a 32-year-old woman who accidentally fell into an uncovered well about 60 feet deep at No. 14 Mustapha Bolatiwa Street, off Agric Bus Stop in Ikorodu.
The incident, which drew a large crowd of onlookers, was described by residents as nothing short of “a miracle.”
According to eyewitnesses, the woman—whose identity had not yet been confirmed—was said to have wandered from a nearby building and was sitting on the edge of the well when she suddenly slipped and fell inside.
Upon receiving a distress call, officials from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service quickly arrived at the scene and began a coordinated rescue effort.
The Director of the service, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, confirmed that the woman was successfully brought out alive after what she described as a tense and carefully executed operation.
She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Adeseye urged residents to always cover wells and similar openings to prevent such tragic incidents. She also praised the rescue team for their swift response and professionalism, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Lagos State.
