Seven people, including a 35-year-old woman and her six children, were killed on Saturday during a violent attack at Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters in Kano State.
The victims, identified as Fatima Abubakar and her children, were reportedly attacked in their home by unknown assailants who broke into the house and inflicted fatal injuries using dangerous weapons.
Confirming the incident, the Kano State Police Command said it received a distress call around 12:10 pm on January 17, alerting authorities to the attack on the household of one Haruna Bashir.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, immediately deployed a team of officers to the scene. The team was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Mani.
The victims were rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano, where doctors confirmed that they were dead on arrival.

CSP Kiyawa said the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, ACP Wada Jarma, has been directed to take over the investigation with a mandate to identify and arrest those behind the attack.
The police command expressed its condolences to the affected family, the Dorayi Chiranchi community and the people of Kano State, assuring residents that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure justice is served.
The incident has left the Dorayi Chiranchi area in deep mourning, with residents calling for improved security measures and swift action to prevent further attacks.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a volunteer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdurrauf Sheriff, was also reportedly stabbed to death by hoodlums in Kano, further heightening concerns over security in the state.
