Yoruba-Hausa Lagos Market Clash Halts Trade, Police Intervene

Clashes between Yoruba and Hausa groups rocked the Oluwole Market in Ogba, Ojodu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, leading to a halt in commercial activities on Friday morning.

The violence erupted on Thursday night when a dispute between two Hausa men was mediated by a young man known as Abbey. Unfortunately, Abbey was allegedly stabbed by an unidentified individual, resulting in his death and escalating tensions between the two ethnic groups.

Abbey's death sparked reprisal attacks, with Yoruba and Hausa residents engaging in violent clashes. The conflicts led to the destruction of food items, including peppers and onions, sold by Hausa traders in the market.

To restore calm, police vans have been deployed to patrol the market area, aiming to quell the clashes and maintain peace in the community.
