The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has expressed deep sorrow over the recent accidental airstrike by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) that claimed the lives of at least 16 individuals, including members of the Zamfara Community Protection Guard (ZCPG), vigilantes, and residents in Tungar Kara, Maradun Local Government Area.
In a statement issued by the party’s spokesman, Yusuf Gusau, the APC conveyed condolences to the victims’ families and the people of Zamfara State. The party described the incident as a tragic loss of lives and honored the sacrifices of those who died while combating banditry. “We pray Allah to accept their martyrdom and give their families the fortitude to bear this loss,” the statement read.
The APC urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the mishap and prevent future occurrences. While mourning the victims, the party commended the military's efforts against banditry, noting significant progress in uprooting criminal hideouts in the region.
Military authorities have yet to comment on the incident, which adds to a series of similar accidental strikes in the past. The APC reaffirmed its support for ongoing military operations, emphasizing the need for precision and enhanced coordination to safeguard civilian lives.
