Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved the immediate payment of February salaries and pensions to civil servants and retirees ahead of the Ramadan fast.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Dantawasa, who said the governor ordered the State Accountant General to release the funds without delay.
According to the statement, the early payment is aimed at helping workers and pensioners prepare adequately and begin the holy month in comfort.
Governor Lawal also urged civil servants, retirees and the Muslim community to use the Ramadan period to pray for the state, calling for continued prayers for peace, unity and stability in Zamfara.

He stressed the importance of seeking divine intervention in tackling the security challenges facing the state, while also praying for economic growth and development.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers and pensioners, describing their well-being as a top priority, and wished Muslims in Zamfara and beyond a peaceful and spiritually rewarding Ramadan.
