The 2024 oil licensing bid round, held at Eko Hotel, Lagos, has concluded with winners emerging across various Petroleum Prospecting Licenses (PPLs). The competitive bidding process showcased key players in Nigeria's oil and gas sector, with several sole bidders also securing significant wins.

Key Highlights of the Winning Bids

  • PPL 269: Petroli Energy Marketing and Supply Limited triumphed over Afagaf Company Limited.
  • PPL 270: Sahara Deepwater Resources Limited emerged victorious, outperforming AMG Exploration and Production Limited.
  • PPL 271: Sahara Deepwater secured another win ahead of RBO Energy Services Limited and Kalm Marine Petroleum Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited.
  • PPL 2000/2001: TotalEnergies narrowly defeated Star Deepwater Petroleum Limited with a score of 126 points to 125.

Sole Bidder Wins

Several licenses were awarded to sole bidders, reflecting focused interest in specific blocks:

  • PPL 2002: BISWAL Oil and Gas
  • PPL 2003: First E & P Development Company
  • PPL 2004: Dewayles International Limited
  • PPL 2005: Applefield Oil and Gas Limited
  • PPL 2006: First E & P Development Company Limited

Other Key Wins

  • PPL 2007: R28 Holdings Limited
  • PPL 2008: Tulcan Energy E & P Company Limited
  • PPL 3007: Oceangate Engineering Oil and Gas Limited
  • PPL 2009: Broron Energy Limited edged out Star Deepwater Petroleum Resources Ltd.

Licenses for PPLs 3011, 3012, 3015, 3016, and 3017 were also secured by sole bidders, including R28 Holdings, Tulcan Energy E & P Company Limited, Panout Oil and Gas, Hakilat Oil and Gas Consortium Ltd, and Applefield Oil and Gas.

This successful licensing round is expected to boost Nigeria’s oil exploration and production capacity, with winners poised to drive new investments and partnerships in the energy sector.
