2025 Budget: Tinubu Priorities Security and Development

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a robust allocation of ₦4.91 trillion for defence and security in the 2025 fiscal year, emphasizing its centrality to national progress. Presenting the 2025 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the 10th National Assembly on Wednesday, the President highlighted plans to bolster military, paramilitary, and police forces with modern tools and technology to safeguard the nation and restore peace.

Titled “The Restoration Budget: Securing Peace, Building Prosperity,” the proposal also allocates ₦4.06 trillion to infrastructure, ₦2.48 trillion to health, and ₦3.5 trillion to education. Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing these critical sectors as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria's economic foundation and improve citizens' quality of life.

The President emphasized the strategic importance of security, describing it as "the foundation of all progress." He pledged to empower armed forces to combat insurgency, banditry, and other threats to sovereignty while boosting morale among personnel. "Our administration will continue to equip and support the shields and protectors of our nation," Tinubu said.

With a deliberate focus on growth and stability, Tinubu assured Nigerians that the 2025 budget reflects a renewed commitment to development and national unity. The President called for collaboration across all sectors to ensure the successful implementation of this transformative blueprint.
