The arrests occurred between August 31 and September 6, 2024, as part of an intensified effort to combat illegal oil activities in the region.

During this period, security agencies also uncovered 63 illegal crude oil connections. The operations were carried out by several security firms, including Tantita Security Services and Shell Petroleum Development Company, in collaboration with government agencies. The suspects have been handed over to authorities for further investigation.

The documentary revealed that a total of 302 incidents were recorded across different regions, with the highest number occurring in the eastern region. In Bayelsa and Rivers States, significant seizures were made, including illegal crude oil and vehicles transporting stolen oil.

NNPCL emphasized its commitment to eradicating crude oil theft, declaring that it will not back down until the menace is completely eliminated.
