Insurgents Eliminated In Borno
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully eliminated 70 insurgents, including three high-ranking terrorist commanders, during a clearance operation at the Timbuktu Triangle in Borno State, according to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ). The operation, which spanned nine days and began on January 16, was aimed at dismantling terrorist strongholds in the region.
The three commanders killed were identified as Talha, the Special Forces Commander; Malam Umar, the Operations Commander; and Abu Yazeed, the Brigade Commander. During the operation, the troops faced numerous encounters with terrorists, who deployed Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and suicide bombers to repel the advancing forces.

Despite the heavy resistance, the troops successfully thwarted the terrorists' tactics, even shooting down several amateur drones used by the insurgents. However, the operation came at a cost, as 22 soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice, with several others wounded.
The Defence spokesman, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, confirmed the ongoing nature of the operation and urged the media to refrain from publishing the names of casualties to allow for proper notifications to their families. Further updates on the situation will be provided as the mission progresses.
