Amorim Frustrated as Man United Drop Points Again in 1–1 Draw with West Ham

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has expressed disappointment after his team once again failed to protect a lead, settling for a 1–1 draw against relegation-battling West Ham on Thursday.

United, now eighth in the Premier League and just two points outside the top four, have repeatedly struggled to finish games strongly. This latest setback follows similar situations against Tottenham and Nottingham Forest, as well as a shock 1–0 loss to 10-man Everton at Old Trafford.

Amorim didn’t hide his frustration after watching his team lose control late in the game.

“We should have closed the game with the ball because the game was there to win,” he said. “The match was under control. We needed to defend far away from our box, because set-pieces can always be dangerous. We didn’t manage that, and again we dropped two points.”

United took the lead when Diogo Dalot found the net shortly before the hour mark. However, wastefulness in possession and a drop in tempo allowed West Ham back into the game. With only seven minutes left, Soungoutou Magassa headed in from a corner to level the score.

Amorim admitted that United’s display fell short of expectations.

“I think the overall performance was not perfect. We had our moments, but we lost control at times in the first half and again after our goal in the second,” he added. “It’s really frustrating because you see the match, you know it’s in your hands, and still you don’t win.”

The draw adds more pressure on United to find consistency as the race for the top four tightens.
