Popular socialite and businessman, Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has called on people of the South-East to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, saying it could help secure the release of detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
He made the statement on Wednesday while reacting to a viral video showing a traditional ruler from the South-East appealing directly to the President to either release Kanu or return him to Kenya, where he was arrested.
Cubana Chief Priest praised the monarch for taking the message straight to Abuja, describing the move as bold and necessary.
Writing in Pidgin English, he said the monarch’s presence in the nation’s capital was important because it ensured the President heard the grievances of the South-East.
“God bless you, Your Royal Highness for partaking in Nigeria. If Your Highness did not participate in Abuja, how Asiwaju wan take hear this message,” he wrote.
He also suggested that without video evidence, some people might have accused the monarch of betrayal or collecting money.
Cubana Chief Priest further advised the South-East to stop fighting the government and instead align with the Tinubu administration.
“Alignment is key, we no fit fight government. Asiwaju go free MNK… Let’s get along with Nigeria,” he added.

The celebrity businessman also pointed out that Tinubu won the 2023 presidential election without strong support from the South-East, and warned that the same could happen again in 2027 if the region does not change its political strategy.
He argued that giving Tinubu massive support could strengthen the region’s influence and even improve the chances of an Igbo presidency in the future.
“Last election, Tinubu won without South-East, it’s clear he will win again. So why not give him the votes so he can do what we ask of him in return,” he said.
Cubana Chief Priest concluded by saying the best political move for the Igbo people is to support Tinubu, claiming the President has the strongest political structure in the country and could eventually support an Igbo successor.
