Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has been selected to accompany President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on a historic state visit to the United Kingdom.
In a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, it was disclosed that Lawal will be part of the presidential delegation departing Abuja on Tuesday for the two-day visit scheduled from March 18 to 19, 2026.
During the trip, President Tinubu, alongside the First Lady and members of his entourage, will be hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle.
The visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between Nigeria and the UK, with key focus areas including immigration, trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
As part of the itinerary, the Nigerian delegation will attend a special exhibition of Royal Collection items linked to Nigeria and a State Banquet hosted in their honour by the Royal Family.
President Tinubu is also expected to hold high-level talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, with discussions set to culminate in the signing of Memoranda of Understanding covering trade, investment, defence, and cultural cooperation.

In addition, the President will participate in the Nigerian Modernism exhibition and engage with business leaders as well as members of the Nigerian diaspora in the UK.
According to the statement, Governor Lawal’s inclusion in the delegation presents an opportunity to attract investment and foster economic growth for Zamfara State through strategic partnerships formed during the visit.
Other members of the delegation include top government officials such as Senate President Godswill Akpabio and several ministers, highlighting the significance of the visit in deepening Nigeria–UK relations.
