Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy and Colombian pop icon Shakira are set to perform the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup during the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City.
The two global stars will take the stage at Estadio Azteca on June 11 before the opening match between Mexico and South Africa.
They will perform Dai Dai, the official anthem of the tournament, which FIFA describes as a celebration of football’s ability to bring people together across cultures, nations and backgrounds.
The title Dai Dai, an Italian expression meaning “come on” or “let’s go,” is expected to be one of the highlights of the opening ceremony.
Joining Burna Boy and Shakira on stage will be J Balvin and Tyla, who are also scheduled to perform during the event.

According to FIFA, the song was created to reflect the passion, excitement and global spirit of the World Cup, with Burna Boy and Shakira bringing together two of the most influential voices in contemporary music.
The opening ceremony in Mexico is one of three major entertainment events planned across the tournament’s host countries.
In Canada, Michael Bublé and Alanis Morissette will perform ahead of Canada’s opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto on June 12.
Meanwhile, in the United States, Katy Perry and Future will entertain fans before the match between the United States and Paraguay at SoFi Stadium.
For Shakira, the performance marks another appearance on football’s biggest stage. The singer became synonymous with the World Cup after the global success of her hit songs Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) and La La La.
She is also expected to feature at the World Cup final on July 19, where she will reportedly co-headline the tournament’s first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime show alongside Madonna and BTS.
