Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has accused staff at the hotel where the Nigerian team camped in Morocco of stealing cash from players' rooms ahead of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.
Okoronkwo made the allegations in a series of posts on Snapchat, claiming that the money disappeared while the players were away from their rooms and cleaners were carrying out housekeeping duties.
The Nigerian team had been staying at a hotel in Casablanca before travelling to Rabat for their Group C matches.
According to Okoronkwo, she initially believed $500 had been stolen from her room but later corrected the amount.
"I did my calculations wrong. They actually stole $700, not $500," she wrote.
She also claimed that several of her teammates were victims of the alleged theft.
According to her, Halimatu Ayinde lost $100, Asisat Oshoala also had $100 missing, while Joy Omewa reportedly lost £120. She added that another teammate also had an undisclosed amount stolen.
Okoronkwo said the players reported the incident to the hotel management, but were left disappointed by the response they received.
"We started talking to them, and they don't have answers. They also started being disrespectful," she wrote.

She further claimed that staff at the reception showed little concern after the matter was reported.
The striker ended her posts by warning others against staying at the hotel, alleging that guests' belongings were not safe.
The Super Falcons completed their preparations in Casablanca before departing for Rabat, where they are aiming to defend their Women's Africa Cup of Nations title. Nigeria enters the tournament as the defending champions and record 10-time winners.
