Reports indicate that seven travellers have been abducted along the Onne waterways in Rivers State. The incident occurred on Monday when the travellers were onboard a boat heading for Port Harcourt. The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the abduction.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Grace Iringe-Koko, the boat was carrying 20 passengers from Bonny to Onne when it was intercepted by sea pirates. The pirates robbed the passengers before abducting seven of them and taking them to an unknown destination.
The police are currently investigating the incident, and efforts are being made to rescue the abducted travellers and apprehend the perpetrators.
