Former Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, has urged the Federal Government to address Nigeria's worsening economic hardship. During a meeting with the leadership of the Campaign for Democracy and Human Rights in Minna, Abubakar expressed concern over the rising cost of living, noting that many Nigerians are struggling to afford basic needs due to fuel price hikes, increasing transportation costs, and rising school fees.

Abubakar called for a collaborative effort between federal, state, and local governments to alleviate the economic strain. He suggested that the government flood communities with affordable food supplies to ease the burden on citizens.

The former Head of State also emphasized the importance of peaceful protests, warning against violence and looting in any demonstrations aimed at addressing poor governance.

The leader of the Campaign for Democracy and Human Rights, Comrade Abdullahi Jabi, sought Abubakar's support in advocating for economic relief measures and promoting active citizen participation in governance. Abubakar reiterated that state police must be well-funded if they are to operate effectively.
