AgriDrive Nigeria Ltd has announced a partnership with the Oyo State Government to cultivate 15,000 hectares of cassava, aiming to bolster food security and strengthen the agricultural sector in Nigeria. Speaking with reporters, Dr. Daniel Willy, Managing Director of AgriDrive and Senior Manager of Policy Agribusiness and Commercialisation at the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF), highlighted that this initiative aligns with the company’s ambitious goal to expand mechanised operations for farmers in the coming year.

“In the next one year, we intend to increase the hectares we cultivate for farmers and our clients,” Dr. Willy stated. “Our target is 15,000 hectares of mechanised cassava operations, primarily in Oyo State, achieved in collaboration with the government.”

Dr. Olaitan Alloh, Country Manager of AgriDrive, emphasized the firm’s mission as a social enterprise focused on advancing mechanisation and agribusiness in Sub-Saharan Africa. “Our primary aim is to support AATF’s vision of empowering farmers and ensuring food security,” Alloh explained, noting that AgriDrive, while focused on various crops, prioritizes cassava due to its high agricultural and economic value.

AgriDrive, established by AATF and based in Kenya, is committed to enhancing the agricultural value chain and promoting sustainable agribusiness across the region, aiming to benefit smallholder farmers and contribute to long-term food security initiatives.
