Akpoti-Uduaghan Shares Over 2,000 Bags of Rice in Kogi Central Christmas Outreach

The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has distributed more than 2,000 bags of rice and other relief items to residents across the district as part of her Christmas outreach programme.

The initiative, which took place simultaneously in Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okene, Okehi and Ogori-Magongo local government areas, was aimed at easing the burden of rising food costs and helping families enjoy the festive season with dignity.

Speaking during the exercise, Akpoti-Uduaghan said the outreach was motivated by compassion and her belief that leadership should have a direct, positive impact on people’s lives.

“Christmas is a season of love, sacrifice and shared joy. With the current cost of living, many families are struggling, and it is important that we support our people in practical ways. This distribution is to ensure that households across Kogi Central can celebrate without undue hardship,” she said.

The 25-kilogram bags of rice were distributed to community groups, women and youth associations, religious organisations, elderly residents and other vulnerable members of the communities.

Community leaders who monitored the distribution described it as one of the largest Christmas rice interventions ever carried out in the area.

“This is not just symbolic. The scale and reach of this support show genuine concern for the grassroots,” a traditional ruler in Okene said.

The Christmas outreach adds to the senator’s growing list of constituency projects, which include healthcare initiatives, educational support, water projects, solar-powered facilities, and programmes focused on women and youth empowerment.

Addressing beneficiaries in Okehi, Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to people-centred representation.

“My duty goes beyond the Senate floor. True representation means being present, listening, and taking actions that improve everyday life,” she stated.

Many beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and heartfelt, and offered prayers for the senator, praising her for what they called compassionate and responsive leadership.

The development comes amid ongoing legal proceedings connected to the senator’s suspension, following a recent Court of Appeal judgment that struck out the Federal Government’s brief of argument on procedural grounds.
