APC Chairman Ganduje Loses Mother-in-Law, Following VP Shettima’s Bereavement

Barely twenty-four hours after Vice President Kashim Shettima lost his mother-in-law, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, also mourns the loss of his mother-in-law, Hajiya Asiya Muhammad Gauyama. The respected matriarch and community leader passed away early Monday, June 24, in Kano.

In a statement from Edwin Olofu, chief press secretary to the APC national chairman, Gauyama was lauded for her unwavering commitment to family, community, and faith. The funeral prayer is scheduled for 2 pm today at Ganduje’s residence on Miyangu Road, Kano state.

The statement expressed deep sorrow and sympathy on behalf of the APC, highlighting the profound loss felt by her immediate family and the community. "Her life was marked by her unwavering commitment to family, community, and faith," it read, extending condolences to Professor Hafsatu Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and her family.

Vice President Shettima also mourns the loss of his mother-in-law, Maryam Abubakar-Albishir, who died Sunday after a prolonged illness. She will be laid to rest on Monday afternoon in Kano, in accordance with Islamic rites.
