The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that there is no crisis in Edo State following the governorship primaries in the state. The National Legal Adviser of the APC, Prof Abdulkareem Kana, made this known in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
Senator Monday Okpebholo emerged as the APC governorship candidate in Edo State after polling 12,433 votes to defeat Dennis Idahosa, Dr Blessing Agbomhere, and nine other aspirants on February 22. However, Idahosa rejected the result and called for a fresh election.
The APC assured that the rift was settled after Idahosa emerged as the running mate to the Edo candidate. Kana stated that as long as the ruling party has not been served with any legal court document, reports of crisis will remain in the realm of speculation.
Kana also denied insinuations that the Edo APC was experiencing internal conflicts, stating that all issues regarding the election have been settled, particularly after the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari who resolved all the different segments within the party in Edo State.
