The All Progressives Congress (APC) has chosen Hon. Dennis Idahosa as its deputy gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming September 21 Edo Governorship election. This decision was made to replace Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who was previously announced as the running mate by the governorship candidate.
APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and National Secretary, Sen. Ajibola Bashiru, are set to present Senator Monday Okpebholo, the party's flag bearer, along with his new running mate, Idahosa, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Villa today. Idahosa, a member of the House of Representatives, emerged as the new deputy candidate after a prolonged meeting involving stakeholders from Edo, party leadership, and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The decision to replace Ogbeide-Ihama with Idahosa came after controversies surrounding the party's shadow election, which was initially held on February 1 and concluded on February 21. Despite losing the ticket to Okpebholo initially, Idahosa has now been selected as the deputy candidate, highlighting the dynamic nature of political decisions and alliances in the lead-up to the elections.
