APC Replaces Senator Ndume as Senate Majority Whip

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has removed Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC-Borno South) from his position as the Majority Whip of the Senate. The decision follows Ndume’s recent critical remarks about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, where he accused the federal government of being run by thieves during a live broadcast on Arise Television.

Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno (APC-Borno North) has been appointed as the new Majority Whip. The party's decision was communicated in a letter addressed to the Senate President, which Senator Godswill Akpabio read during a plenary session. The letter was signed by APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, and National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

In addition to stripping Ndume of his Majority Whip role, the APC has advised him to resign from the party. As part of a minor reshuffle in Senate Committees, Akpabio instructed the Sergeant-At-Arms to seat Monguno as the new Majority Whip and reassigned Ndume to be the chairman of the Senate Committee on Tourism. Ndume was also removed from his position as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation.
