The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has established a six-member panel of governors tasked with coordinating the party's activities across the six geo-political zones. This move, aimed at fostering cohesion within the party, was announced during the committee's inauguration in Abuja.
Ganduje emphasized the committee's role in facilitating regular interactions between governors from each zone and the party's leadership. Additionally, they are mandated to collaborate with the party to initiate immediate processes for reconciling aggrieved members within the zones.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has been appointed to oversee the party's affairs in the South-west, while Senator Hope Uzodinma of Imo State will lead the South East. Other appointments include Governor Bassey Otu of Cross Rivers State for the South-South, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State for the North Central, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State for the North-East, and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for the North-West.
The committee's responsibilities include mobilizing governors to actively participate in party activities both within and outside their respective zones.
