Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a former member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, has cautioned governors against misusing the N260 billion allocated by the Federal Government for revitalizing Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) to combat the cholera outbreak. Speaking in Osogbo, Oyintiloye emphasized the urgent need for prudent management of these funds to equip PHCs effectively.
Oyintiloye highlighted the critical role of PHCs during emergencies, noting that many currently lack adequate equipment, essential drugs, and proper conditions of service. He underscored the importance of using the allocated funds to strengthen these centers and prevent further spread of cholera, which has already claimed 40 lives.

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof Muhammad Pate, previously announced the earmarking of N260 billion for PHC revitalization, with plans to increase the number of functional PHCs from 8,300 to 17,000. Oyintiloye commended these plans but expressed concern over potential fund mismanagement at the state level.
In response to the cholera threat, Lagos State's Director of Environmental Health, Akeem Olaewe, urged residents to follow government directives for controlling the disease. Meanwhile, Osun and Imo states reported no confirmed cholera cases, though both states remain vigilant. Oyintiloye called on President Bola Tinubu to implement strict measures ensuring the effective utilization of the funds.
