Armed assailants carried out a brazen attack on a luxury bus at Oke Ado Junction, Ijebu-mushin, along the Ijebu-Ode-Benin Expressway, on Saturday. The passengers, en route to the southeast for Easter celebrations, were ambushed by the hoodlums who proceeded to rob them before setting the bus on fire.
Confirming the incident, Ogun State Police Command spokesperson SP Omolola Odutola stated that the attack involved the burning of a luxury Mercedes Benz bus operated by Ifesinachi Transport Limited. The assailants, armed with cutlasses, robbed the passengers before torching the vehicle.
In a video posted on social media by Chude Nnamdi, some of the affected passengers recounted their harrowing ordeal. They described how the criminals robbed them, stripped some passengers half-naked, and then locked them inside the bus before setting it ablaze. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but the passengers lost all their belongings and some sustained injuries.
The passengers expressed gratitude for their survival but lamented the loss of their possessions. The attack occurred around 2 am, leaving the passengers stranded and in shock. The incident underscores the insecurity along the Ore-Benin Expressway and the need for increased security measures to protect travelers.
